GeoNorth Information Systems has collaborated with Calaveras County, California to provide the county with current, accurate, high-resolution satellite imagery. The county uses the imagery to manage two of the most critical issues it is currently managing; tree mortality and regulation of controlled substance cultivation.
Tree mortality is occurring throughout the county and the state as a result of drought-induced stress on conifers. Conifer trees become susceptible to beetle infestations as the trees become stressed due to drought.
Additionally, Calaveras is managing cannabis growers and their operations using the satellite imagery, collected at specific times during the year, to detect, monitor and characterize cannabis cultivation operations.
